K-9 PROGRAM
The Mineral County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Program stands ready to respond
to our citizens needs. We are ready to repond to a missing child, locating
missing Alzhiemer patients, searching and clearing a building in which an alarm
has been activated, searching for fleeing criminals who are evading
apprehension, locating illegal drugs, searching structures for suspected
explosive devices and locating discarded firearms at a crime scene. Our K-9
team is always available for public appearances and demonstrations also.
Our K-9 Program is operated by Deputy R. J. Wingler and Deputy Robbie Smith,
who are highly dedicated to the K-9 Program. Deputy Wingler and Deputy Smith
have Belgian Melinois. “Dutch” is assigned to Deputy Wingler and “Kira” is
assigned to Deputy Smith.
